The Dangwa Flower Market is a a fresh flower produce market. Prices of cut flowers like roses, zinnias ,marigolds, chrysanthemums, Daisies, are quite affordable. Right now, a bundle of [tag]flowers[/tag]can fetch as much as 250 pesos or $5.00. During [tag]Valentine’s Day[/tag], the bouquets could probably reach three times the prices today. But it is still cheaper to buy the flowers in this market rather than the neighborhood [tag]florist[/tag] or [tag]flower shop[/tag].

Siberian Husky

My daughters wanted a Siberian Husky. Siberian Huskies are strong, compact, working dogs but they ran after small animals. We have two adorable cats at home and we just can’t allow a dog to hurt them. Looking at this Husky reminds me of a wolf staring at me. He really looks intelligent and perky. But the cats have been a household member for a long time now. We really considered their feelings in choosing a dog breed.————

Hermit Crabs

Imagine a hermit crab dressed as Superman, or as Winnie the Pooh ?

I caught these hermit crabs in different arrays of “costume” at the Park Square mall .

Sold for 100 peso each, I wonder what one can do with a pet hermit crab. Although hermit crabs might look harmless, they can use their claws to grip things tightly. I think it’s cruel to paint their shells.

The Koi and the Swan

Remember my swirling carp photo at Greenbelt 3? I thought that was such a delight to watch until I espied the swan feeding the Koi in a man made lake at Fernwood Gardens. It truly warmed my heart to see another animal feeding another specie. Nature really takes care of each other.

Look at this swan as it gobbles up some food on the feeding dish.

Then the generous swan dumps the food onto the water.

Look at how the koi swarm eagerly around the beak of the swan.

Butterfly Release

A butterfly release is common now in funerals, weddings, parties or just any occasion. I caught this butterfly flitting from plant to plant over at the Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City.

Since the early centuries, the butterfly has symbolized renewed life. The caterpillar signifies life here on earth; the cocoon, death; and the butterfly, the emergence of the dead into a new, beautiful and freer existence.

Frequently, the butterfly is seen with the word “Nika,” which means victory. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross movingly tells of seeing butterflies drawn all over the walls of the children’s dormitories in the World War II concentration camps. Since Elisabeth believes in the innate intuitiveness of children, she concludes that these children knew their fate and were leaving us a message.

The butterfly supplier I have tried is from Acclaim Butterfly which I used for my daughter’s debut party.

A Rose laden Table

It must cost an arm and a leg to have a rose laden dinner table. This was a sample table from Hizon Food Caterers. They couldn’t give me an idea how much a table like this cost. One has to determine the number of guest before they can give a quotation. I’d rather have pink roses than red roses for a theme party. Red is just too bold a color.————
