You might have watched the last Harry Potter movie Imax Theater in SM Mall of Asia but I didn’t because I find SM Mall of Asia too far south. Good news for Metro Manila residents in the North, an IMAX theater is opening at the SM North EDSA.

If you find Imax theater at the SM Mall of Asia too far, then no worries. Finally, an Imax theater will open on July 16, 2009 at the SM North EDSA. Now that’s good news for residents in Northern Manila.

Imax Theater in SM North EDSA will feature Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I was hoping they’d show Star Trek once again. I missed watching it in IMAX delight.

This mall is going to provide you with a unique movie-going experience like no other. SM Cinemas Marikina will house 8 luxurious theaters, four of which have stadium seating so movie buffs can have a wonderful view of the screen wherever they are seated. While waiting for the show to start, you can hang out at the state-of-the-art lobby, sit down at the plush chairs in the lounge, and surf the net using the free WiFi. But what is “The Alps“, the movie all about?

The movie follows an American climber, John Harlin III, as he travels to Switzerland with his family (taking us through the Lake Geneva terraced vineyards, the Glacier Express mountain train, a bungee jump off the Verzasca dam and other great Swiss landscapes) and prepares to climb the North Face of the Eiger, one of the world’s most celebrated walls but also a notorious one for its unpredictable weather, which had taken his father’s life forty years ago. So “The Alps” is a story about climbing as a sport and about magnificent nature, as well as about the human spirit, about the courage and determination that it takes to get to the top of a mountain like the Eiger while fighting one’s personal demons.

Spider-Man 3 at the Imax Theater SM Mall of Asia

Spider-Man 3 is showing today at the SM Mall of Asia Imax theater that I am getting a lot of hits on the search for “Imax theater schedule”. Well to know the schedule, click here to get the current movie schedule. Cast includes Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, Thomas Haden Church, Topher Grace, James Franco, Dylan Baker, Elizabeth Banks, Bryce Dallas Howard, J. K. Simmons, Theresa Russell, James Cromwell, Tim deZarn, Rosemary Harris, Mageina Tovah, and Cliff Robertson. Running time of the movie is 2 hours and 20 minutes.

I need to see Spider Man 3 in the Imax theater. Friends have mentioned that the digitally remastered and sound remastered IMAX version of Spiderman 3 is truly sharp and vivid. I can’t believe that the Imax theater at the SM Mall in Asia is the largest in the world in terms of sale.

So now it’s The Ant Bully being shown at the IMAX theater of the SM Mall of Asia. Superman Returns is still showing at the IMAX but it is only shown at 9PM.

Ten-year-old Lucas Nickle is the new boy in town. Friendless and often the subject of the neighborhood bully, he retreats to his backyard and takes out his frustration on an ant hill. But the ants rally round one day to get back at the boy; they shrink him using a magic potion. Lucas, now ant-sized and forced to live like an ant, will learn valuable lessons about standing up for himself.

The first IMAX Theater in the Philippines at SM Mall of Asia is one of the largest screens in the world. At by 22 by 30 meters, the height is similar to an eight story building and a seating capacity for 600 viewers.

How did this IMax come about?
